INVOLVEMENT

AAF KC Juneteenth Panel Speaker | Jun 2020

Represented Barkley on a panel discussion on the topic of diversity in advertising. My performance on this panel lead to the creation of Barkley’s fellowship and Creative Accelerator programs — both of which are activations with the purpose of bringing BIPOC and underrepresented talent into advertising. Additionally, post-panel, my former colleagues from KU Marketing Communications solicited my support to help them create a scholarship for students in KU’s School of Design.

Cultural Leadership Alumni Panel Speaker | Jun 2020

Cultural Leadership is a nonprofit based in St. Louis that trains high school students to be the next generation of civil rights leaders. I graduated in class 9 of this program and spoke to the current students about my impact in advocacy.

Barkley Educate & Discuss DEI+B Founder | 2020

Created a diversity and inclusion committee to educate our partners on various intersectional topics and facilitate those discussions across our four offices.

Tools for Rocket People: DEI+B Newsletter | 2020 – 2022

Created a monthly newsletter to share DEI+B resources with Barkley. The newsletter is structured to include resources for all learning styles including written, audio, and video content for all partners to engage with ease.

How to Be an Antiracist Book Club Moderation | 2020

After the murder of George Floyd, Barkley initiated an agency-wide book club surrounding the book “How to Be an Antiracist” by Ibram X. Kendi. I constructed our moderation guide and discussion questions for all 17 groups. Each group of 20-25 partners met weekly for four weeks to breakdown the teachings of Kendi. I moderated and facilitated 3 of these 17 groups on top of my regular duties as a designer and motion designer.

Partner Panel Series, Barkley | 2020

Created a platform for marginalized partners to speak on their identity, struggles, and lived experiences. Each panel is observed by the entire agency to help our partners learn how to better support underrepresented partners and communities.

Open Space DEI+B Forum, Barkley | 2020

Created a monthly forum on revolving themes of identity, culture, and society. Each discussion is available for all partners to participate actively or passively. Some recent topics include: accessibility, mental health, and stop Asian hate.

BIPOC & LGBTQIA+ Employee Resource Group Founder | 2020

Created and cultivated Barkley’s first BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ employee resource groups and integrated them across our four offices.
